Sweet Hauntings

My summer is officially over.  My son starts 2nd Grade today, and the Holiday Catalog kicks off on tomorrow.  Exciting stuff!

On Friday, I shared with you the Half Size Mini Treat Bag, and here's even more from the Happy Haunting product suite (Holiday Catalog pp. 46-47).  This Sweet Hauntings Card was a treat to make!

I played with many of the patterned paper designs in the Happy Haunting Designer Series Paper before I settled on this one with the adorable ghosts and spider webs (on the B-side).

Since I wanted to use both sides of the designer series paper, I had to do two things:
  1. Cut a piece of Basic Black Cardstock to 4" x 5-1/4" for the base for the patterned paper.
  2. Cut the piece of patterned paper to 4" x 5-1/4".  Then cut it about 3/4's of the way down (at 3-1/4" x 4").
This way, I was able to piece all of the patterned paper together without guessing where to place it, AND it gave me a strong base from which to cut off the overhanging spider web doily.  I cut the doily with our Paper Snips, not the Stampin' Trimmer because it's so delicate.

I finished this card off with some of our delicious Iced Rhinestone Embellishments.  They're perfect on this card!

I hope you like this card and will make one of your own.  You will find all of the Stampin' Up! products used to create this card below.  Order what you need by placing your order in my Online Store anytime, or click any of the photos below to go right to that item.  Remember, you can start ordering from the Holiday Catalog on September 1st--tomorrow!

Half Size Mini Treat Bag Blog Hop!

My friends and I--Patty, Cindee and me--get together as often as we can to go shopping for Craft Room supplies as well as to do some stamping.  Well, last week, we got together to work on some Halloween crafts using new products from the 2015 Holiday Catalog.  And did we had a blast!

As much as I would love to show you every project we made, for now I'm only here to share this adorable Half Size Mini Treat Bag that Cindee showed us how to make.  I'll be sure to share the rest of the good stuff in the next couple of weeks, but hopefully this will wet your whistle until then.

To make this half size mini treat bag, we used the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies but only the part that makes the side of the mini treat bag.  We cut two of those side pieces from patterned paper from the Happy Hauntings Designer Series Paper collection and adhered them with our new and wonderful Tear & Tape Adhesive.  That stuff is magic!

Stampin' Up!'s Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies

Once we were done with the bags, we did the following:
  • Adorned the bag with another strip of patterned paper from the Happy Hauntings Designer Series Paper collection,
  • Added a 1/4 piece of one of the Spider Web Doilies,
  • Stamped a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock with Sweet Hauntings Stamp Set images (one is fussy cut and backed with a Stampin' Dimensional) and punched it out using the Note Tag Punch,
  • Added some Happy Hauntings Designer Washi Tape to the bottom of the tag,
  • Added an Iced Rhinestone Embellishment colored with a black Sharpie, and
  • Used some Very Vanilla Thick Baker's Twine to tie the tag onto the bag.

Isn't this little treat bag cute?!  I hope you will give these bags a try.  They're fun and easy to make!

Once you're done making them, you can stuff them with pencils, licorice, or some Pringles Stixs like we did.  They are perfect for Halloween treats for your child's class Halloween party and for the trick-o-treaters too.

You will find all of the instructions on how to make these bags on Cindee's blog.  And you will find all of the supplies listed below, but please note that the Holiday products will not be available for purchase until September 1st.

Please stop by both Cindee Wilkinson and Patty Bennett's blogs to see how their bags turned out.

When I was at the Stampin' Up! Convention in July, we were able to preview this kit as well as September's, and we were all blown away.  If you are not a subscriber yet, you'll definitely want to become one before September 10th.

This kit includes 6 cards, 6 envelopes, and 3 boxes.  The cards took minutes to make, and the box was easy to put together.

I just LOVE that flower accent on the box.  Be still my heart!

Check out the video Stampin' Up! created to show you how to use all of the pieces in this month's kit.

Now is a great time to get 50% off your first two months!   Use the code HALFOFF to join Paper Pumpkin before September 10, 2015, and get 50% off the first two months!  After that, keep the creativity coming for only $19.95 + tax per month (shipping included).  And if you don't love it, you can always cancel it or put it on hold.  Really!

SNEAK PEEK: Thankful for You & Holiday Catalog 2015 is Available!

OMG!  It's so hard to believe that August is nearly coming to a close.  Where did the summer go?  The kids in our community have returned to school, Halloween stuff is available in stores, and soon the weather will change.

I LOVE the holidays, but they come and go so quickly.  Instead of fretting all of the frenzy, I always try to enjoy them by making handmade cards for each occasion--Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas--and sending them to my family, friends, and beloved customers.

I hate to sound like a broken record, but the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog 2015 will launch soon.  There's so much good stuff in this Catalog, it's going to be hard to take it all in.  I promise!

When I saw the Thankful Forest Friends Stamp Set and the Into the Woods product suite (pp. 42-43), I knew I had to have it all!

As soon as my preorder touched down, I got right to work on these Thankful for You Cards.  I selected my favorite sheet of Into the Woods Designer Series Paper, which has so many great designs, and the rest is pretty much crafting history.  Of the three cards I made, the one with the bear is my favorite.

I stamped the bear in Early Espresso ink onto a half-cut circle that I die cut using the Circle Collection Framelits Dies.  I then stamped the sentiment in Pumpkin Pie onto a piece of 2-1/8" x 3-1/2" piece of Whisper White Cardstock.  I then embossed a piece of 2-1/2" x 4-1/4" piece of Rich Razzleberry with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.

I layered everything together with Fast Fuse with the exception of the bear on the die cut half circle.  I put Stampin' Dimensionals behind it.  I finished this card off by adhering one of the Into the Woods Elements with a Mini Glue Dot and adding a Linen Thread bow with a dot of glue from our new Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  It's amazing and perfect for adhering tiny embellishments and die cut pieces.

Prepping swaps.

I like the card with the bear so much, I decided it would be the perfect card for a swap I'm participating in.  I hope my fellow demonstrators like it as much as I do!

My swaps are ready to go!

Sprinkles on the Cupcake of Life & How to Make Faux Ribbon

Do you have one or two go-to products in your craft stash that you can always grab and make something amazing?  Well, hands down, that's how I feel about the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set and Tree Builder Punch in the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  For the most part, everything I create with these two products, I like.

I've been very busy with Stampin' Up! parties this entire month, and I've been having a blast at every event!  Since everyone absolutely adores the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set and Tree Builder Punch, I've been sure to share projects to make with them at all of my parties.  This Sprinkles on the Cupcake Card has been a big hit each time I've shared it.

For this card, I borrowed my design inspiration from a card I saw on Pinterest, but I made it my own by adding a few additional elements.  For example, I added embossing to the card base, several punched pieces, and that "faux ribbon" at the top of the tag.

Just what is one to do when you check your ribbon stash, and you realize that we don't have any current Crushed Curry ribbon in our collection?  Well, after I thought about it for a second, I realized that I could make my own faux ribbon with some cardstock.  Necessity is the mother of invention, right?

For the faux ribbon, I cut a piece of 1/2" x 4" Crushed Curry Cardstock, banner cut the ends with my Hexagon Punch, folded the paper off center in the middle, and, wallah, I had what I needed!  I stapled the "ribbon" to the top of my tag, and it was just what the doctor ordered.

So, the next time you don't have ribbon in the color you need, just fake it with one that you make from cardstock.  Easy, peasy!

You will find all of the Stampin' Up! products used to create this card below.  Order what you need by placing your order in my Online Store anytime, or click any of the photos below to go right to that item.

Until next time, happy crafting!

Friends 'n Flowers

For my Stampin' Up! party last Thursday night, I challenged myself to use the new Garden in Bloom Stamp Set for one of the cards the party goers would make.  I surprised myself and came up with a card that I adored on the first try!

Since Hello Honey has been at the top of my list of colors to use, I knew it would be perfect for the flowers.  I then grabbed Garden Green for the leaves and the sentiment, and finished it off with a splash of Melon Mambo using one of the splatter stamps in the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set around the flowers.

I added just a touch of color under the sentiment--a banner cut piece of Melon Mambo cardstock--because the card was a bit naked without it.  At least it was to me.

What I love most about the Garden in Bloom Stamp Set is that it includes flowers, a butterfly and a bee (pg. 119 in the Annual Catalog)...some of my favorite things in nature.  It's just darling and gives your stamped images a watercolor look, and I can't wait to play with more of the images in this set.

Check out Pat's card.  Brilliant!

Josie's creation is simply marvelous!

Did you see what Pat and Josie did with for their cards (above)?  Josie is my hostess' 12 year old daughter.  Isn't she the sweetest?!  I LOVE it when my customers put their spin on one of my designs!  Most of the others did a little something different than what I created too, but they were a little camera shy.

I hope you like this card and put a spin on my design as well.  You will find all of the Stampin' Up! products used to create this card below.  Order what you need by placing your order in my Online Store anytime, or click any of the photos below to go right to that item.

Celebrate You

Boy, does time fly when you're having fun!  I've been up to my eyeballs in prepping for my Stampin' Up! parties, making samples for a swap I'm participating in, and having lots of fun with my girlfriends.  Even though I've been creating, I haven't had much time to share.  Tisk tisk.

Anyway, I am super excited to finally share this beautiful Celebrate You Card with you!  I came up with this creation while I was making samples for my party last week, and it ended up on the cutting room floor.

The only reason why it didn't make the cut is because the second card I made also had a Cucumber Crush card base, and we couldn't have two cards with the same base color.  Why, that would have been a travesty, right?

For this card I used the marvelous Birthday Blossoms Stamp Set.  This stamp set is timeless and classic.  And I just love that it coordinates with the Pansy Punch, so you can make an impact with punched flowers on your project.

When designing this card, my intention was to use that "cluster of flowers" stamp as my background, so I stamped it three times in the upper left, lower left and lower right corners in Cucumber Crush for a fun tone on tone look.  I love it!

Using the second largest die in the Lots of Labels Framelits Dies, I die cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock for the sentiment.  On the white die cut piece, I stamped the leaves three times in Cucumber Crush and the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black.

Using the largest die in the Lots of Labels Framelits Dies, I die cut a piece of Watermelon Wonder Cardstock to layer the sentiment piece onto.

I stamped two flowers in Watermelon Wonder and colored the flower centers with a Daffodil Delight Stampin' Marker onto Whisper White Cardstock and punched them out using the Pansy Punch.

I placed Stampin' Dimensionals behind the punched flowers and finished the card off with two Rhinestone Basic Jewels in the lower right corner of the sentiment piece.

Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog image, pg. 8

I LOVE how this card turned out, and I can't wait to play with the Birthday Blossoms Stamp Set again and soon!  What do you think?  I'd love to hear from you, so please leave me a comment below.
