Celebrate Dahlia & My 2015-2016 Paper Share Update

This past Saturday, the Luv 2 Stamp Group (the namesake of my Stampin' Up! director's downline) enjoyed an afternoon of stamping at Cindee Wilkinson's home.  Patty Bennett, our super-talented director, designed and supplied all of the projects for us to make.  We had such a good time stamping, laughing and chatting together.

I'm here to share the first card, so be sure to stop by all week so you'll have a chance to see them all.  They're simply amazing!

For this Celebrate Dahlia Card, we used:
  • Definitely Dahlia Stamp
  • Watermelon Wonder Classic Stampin' Pad
  • Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack
  • Watermelon Wonder Cardstock
  • Expressions Natural Elements
  • Cucumber Crush 1" Dotted Lace Trim
Shop online for these products below.

This card was so fun and easy to make, but you may be asking how I colored the Expressions Natural Elements?  All you have to do is smash your wooden word into your ink pad, dab the excess ink off with a napkin, and then it's ready to use.  Easy, right?!

To adhere it to your card, just put three to five drops of Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue on the back of it.  Less is more with this glue.

This card is so brilliant and bright...I just love it!

You will find all of the Stampin' Up! products used to create this card below.  Place your order in my Online Store anytime, or click any of the photos below to go right to that item.

2015-2016 Paper Share Update

I am happy to report that my first paper share was a success, and all of the beautiful paper is in the mail to its rightful owners!  For those of you who purchased a share from me, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Just so you know, you should have your goodies, along with a little surprise I included, within 1-3 business days.  I can't wait to hear which designer series papers you love!

So...depending on what's in the 2015 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog (coming soon!), I might host another share.  It could be paper, products or both.  Once I see what's in that Catalog, I'll take it from there.

If you'd like to stay in the know, then please visit my blog often or simply subscribe under "Get Crafty Inspiration In Your In Box" in the upper right corner.

Love you {a lot} Dad

First, I'd like to send Happy Father's Day wishes to all of the dads out there!  Second, I'd like to wish my own father and fiancé the happiest of Father's Day's today as well.  We will be seeing my dad bright and early this morning for our typical Father's Day ritual...brunch at his favorite seafood restaurant for a delicious all inclusive brunch buffet.

So in typical Father's Day fashion, I made both of my favorite men handmade Father's Day cards.  They both like receiving my cards, so I love coming up with something special for them.

For this year's Father's Day cards, I made Love You (a lot) Dad Cards using the stamp set from the "Love You A Lot" April 2015 Paper Pumpkin Kit.

I followed the deconstructed sketch 190 for my design.

In order to achieve the stacked stamp look, I grabbed my Clear Block I and stacked the four stamps that I needed one right over the other (as shown below).  I practiced several times on my Grid Paper to make sure they were perfectly aligned before stamping the words onto my Very Vanilla Cardstock.

You may not be able to see them all that well in the pictures, but I finished off the cards with our Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers--two small circles and one large.

I wanted to keep the cards "manly," so I stopped at adding only three Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers.  You might find this hard to believe, but this is the first time I've used them.  Now I LOVE them!  It was the Tin of Cards Project Kit that showed me just how fun they are to use.  Who knew?!

I love these cards, and I can't wait to see what my dad and my Howard think about them!

If you have the April 2015 Paper Pumpkin Kit and you haven't already made it, you've got oodles of cards, tags and gifts you can make with this stamp set and project kit.  Check out some ideas on Stampin' Up!'s April 2015 Paper Pumpkin Pinterest page.

Paper Pumpkin is Stampin' Up!'s monthly subscription service where you get a crafty escape that can include everything from cards, home decor projects, tags, and/or gifts...you name it!  It's a surprise that arrives on your doorstep each month...all you do is add adhesive.

If this sounds like your kind of fun, you can either prepay for a trial subscription or go all in and subscribe monthly.  Just click HERE to become a subscriber.  Easy, breezy, beautiful!  Or, try Paper Pumpkin with a pre-paid subscription for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months!

You will find all of the Stampin' Up! products I used to create these cards below.  At the time of this writing, the April 2015 Paper Pumpkin Kit is not available in my online store, but when it becomes available, I'm sure you'll want to know, so subscribe today!  Besides, only Paper Pumpkin subscribers can buy past kits and refills.  You know you want one!  You can check out all of the refills and past kits HERE.

Go See Do Travel Card

I made my first ever travel card!  I guess you're supposed to send travel cards to friends and family members who are taking a trip of a lifetime like going on a European adventure or a cruise to faraway places.  Is this right?  Well, I've never sent one, but now I have one I can send.

I saw this card in my mind's eye, so I had to make it!  It was made with a mix of products new, old and other...I'll explain.

Using the Layered Letters Alphabet Stamp Set (new), Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper (a timeless classic), Triangle Punch (retired), and the Sizzix Globe Thinlits Die (other), I created this Go See Do Travel Card.

I love the new Layered Letters Alphabet Stamp Set!  It's photopolymer, so you can see exactly where you are stamping.  And it's large, so you can make big statements.

Layered Letters Alphabet

For this card, I aligned all of my letters* onto Block E and stamped my sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto White Vellum Cardstock.  I didn't want the ink to smear, so I heat set it using Black Stampin' Emboss Powder and my Heat Tool.

*There's only one of each letter in the set, so for the second "E" in "SEE" and the second "O" in "DO," I put the "E" and "O" onto Block B and completed the words that way.

I attached the vellum piece onto the card by using four Mini Glue Dots.  I hid them behind the two letters at the top of the card and the two at the bottom.  You can't see them at all!

This card makes me want to book my next vacation.  What about you?

You will find all of the Stampin' Up! products I used to create this card below, except for the "other" product.  Place your order in my Online Store anytime, or click any of the photos below to go right to that item.

Until next time, happy crafting!

Terrific Tin of Cards Project Kit, A Few Tips & A VIDEO!

Boy, did I have a great weekend!  I spent Saturday afternoon making the Tin of Cards Project Kit with my friend, Traci.  And on Sunday, my family and I hung out all day and had a bunch of fun.

Have you seen the Tin of Cards Project Kit?  Sure you have.  It's on the front cover of the new Annual Catalog!  It's so much fun to put together, but it's also fast and easy too!

Not only do you get 16 cards and envelopes and all of the accessories to put them together, but you also get an adorable green and white striped tin to store them in.  LOVE this tin!  To put it together as shown, all you need are the coordinating stamp set (shown below), a few stamp pads and some adhesive.

Tin of Cards Project Kit

If you like these cards, then don't forget to add the Tin of Cards Stamp Set to your order because the Project Kit and Stamp Set are sold separately.

Instructions are included in the kit, but below are a few tips of my own for when you are putting yours together.

Card #1

This is the easiest card to put together in the set.
  1. Adhere the patterned cardstock to the inside of the card front (use 4 Mini Glue Dots on each corner of the printed side).
  2. Stamp your sentiment onto the die cut banner and adhere it to the card.
  3. Finish it off with those adorable gold epoxy hearts, and it's ready to give.
Card #2

Another fun and fast card to put together.
  1. Adhere the Crushed Curry strip to the center of the card first.
  2. Stamp the border above and below the strip.
  3. Stamp the sentiment onto the wooden word bubble, grab a gold glitter heart, and adhere both to the card front.  Now you're done.

PLEASE NOTE:  Stampin' Up! recommends stamping in StazOn Jet Black Ink on the wooden element.  Because I am afraid of staining, I do not use StazOn on my photopolymer stamps.  I tried Memento Ink Tuxedo Black, but it bled.  So I used a black ink pad I have been using since 2007--Tsukineko VersaFine Pigment Ink in Onyx Black--and it worked beautifully.

Card #3

This card takes the longest to put together because there are several elements to stamp, metallic gold thread to tousle, and butterflies to put together.  But the pay off is fantastic!
  1. Stamp all of the sentiments and borders first, then set all of those pieces aside to give them sufficient time to dry.
  2. Like Card #1, use 4 Mini Glue Dots in each corner of the polka dot window sheet to adhere inside the card over the die cut opening.
  3. Use the Paper-Piercing Tool to punch out all of the small pieces from the die cut butterflies.
  4. Use a small strip of washi tape to adhere the gold thread to the back of the large butterfly.

Card #4

This card was hard to photograph, but it's gorgeous in person...I promise.
  1. Adhere the gold foil overlay to the card base first, then stamp inside the lines.  (Like mentioned above, because I did not use StazOn, I did not stamp onto the gold foil overlay like the instructions suggest.)
  2. Tousle the black and white baker's twine and adhere it to the back of your sentiment with a small strip of washi tape.
  3. Add the sentiment (using two Stampin' Dimensionals) and epoxy stars to your card.
PLEASE NOTE:  The round die cut sentiments are in different languages, including English, French, and, I believe, German (there are 4 of each in each language and range from "happy birthday" to "hello").  Stampin' Up! is going global, so this is not a mistake.  I love it and hope you do too!

Here's Traci opening her Tin of Cards Project Kit.  It was like Christmas in June!

For more tips on how to put this fun Tin of Cards Project Kit together, check out Stampin' Up!'s video below.

I LOVE this project kit and hope that you'll add one or two (one for a friend!) to your order.  Putting it together with a friend is so much more fun than doing so alone, right?

You Are So Kind Card & 3-Step Stamping with Watercolor Wings

OMG!  This has been one BIG week!  So much going on...but I managed to squeeze in some crafting time, so it's all good.  My second order from Stampin' Up! arrived earlier this week with all new catalog items, so I picked out a few things to play with.

I love butterflies, as you may recall, AND I love stamp sets with coordinating dies or punches, so this Watercolor Wings Stamp Set and Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies Bundle (15% savings with the bundle!) was at the top of my list.  The first thing I made using them is this beautiful You Are So Kind Card.

I borrowed my design from a card I saw on Pinterest, and I took my color inspiration for my butterfly from my wonderful friend and Stampin' Up! Director, Patty Bennett.  Patty did an amazing job showing how to use this new bundle in her video and post!

Stampin' Up!'s Watercolor Wings Stamp Set (item #139424)

If you were around for Sale-a-Bration, this stamp set might remind you of our fabulous Lotus Blossom Stamp Set.  Everyone who tried it, had to have it.  Well, this set with its 3-step stamping but offers so much more!  You can make two different size butterflies that coordinate with 2 Framelits/Thinlits, and the color combinations for butterflies are endless!  That's HUGE!

So how did I stamp my butterfly, you ask?  Well, here's what you get when you layer Pool Party, then add Bermuda Bay, and then Island Indigo with the three large butterfly stamps in the set (below).

Then you finish it off by stamping on the butterfly's body (I stamped it in black ink).  I wanted to add the antennae to my butterfly on my card, but I was afraid I'd mess something up, so I didn't risk it.

The great thing is that you can either stamp your butterfly directly onto your card base OR stamp it and die cut it.  I chose to die cut mine with the coordinating Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies because I love being able to make the butterfly "come to life."

This card has layers of colors, stamped elements and texture too.  I achieved this look with both new and retired Stampin' Up! elements, but they were all necessary.

I hope you like this card and want to add this stamp set and the matching Framelits to your stash.  They are a must-have for nature lovers alike and for those who are looking to punch up your crafting style with some 3-step stamping!  I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this bundle and can't wait to show you more beautiful card and crafting ideas with it!

TIP:  The Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies also coordinate with the Butterflies Thinlits that were introduced in the Occasions Catalog 2015.  You will find both sets on page 172 of the new Annual Catalog.

Even though they are sized differently in the pictures, the large butterfly in the Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies is the same size as the second largest butterfly in the Butterflies Thinlits.  And the smallest butterflies in both sets are the same size as well.  Gotta have them all!

You will find all of the Stampin' Up! products I used to create this card below.  Place your order in my Online Store anytime, or click any of the photos below to go right to that item.

Have a great weekend!  Until next time, happy crafting!

I'm Here for You & A TUTORIAL!

I have been having so much fun since my new products arrived!  A little too much.  Anyway, I am so excited to share this I'm Here For You Card that I created using the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack and fun new Cherry on Top Cotton Paper Assortment.

I took design inspiration from a card I saw on Pinterest last week.  As soon as I saw it, I gathered all of my supplies and got right to work.  The card design is simple...a few layers of cardstock on the card base, some linen thread double wrapped around the top layer, a flower and a sentiment.  But that flower...that's the piece de resistance!

For the flower, I used the Flower Fair Framelits and Cherry on Top Cotton Paper Assortment.  The cotton paper is smooth like the tissue paper that you'd stuff into a gift bag when giving a gift, but it's just a tad bit thicker.

It die cuts like a dream!  And when you fold it up and onto itself, you get fluffy layers of fun that make pretty flowers!  Below are the steps for making your own cotton paper flowers.

THE STEPS ::
  1. Using your Stampin' Trimmer, cut a 2"x12" strip of Crushed Curry and 2-3"x12" strips of Watermelon Wonder Cotton Paper Assortment.
  2. Using the two dies shown below from the Flower Fair Framelits, cut 5 flower centers from the Crushed Curry strip and 8-10 flowers from the Watermelon Wonder strips (you can layer the 2 Watermelon Wonder strips and die cut them at the same time).
  3. Layer the flower centers onto the flowers (not perfectly but almost) into one stack.
  4. Put the stack onto your Stampin' Pierce Mat, find the center, and use the Paper-Piercing Tool to make a hole.  Secure the flower with a 1/8" Mini Brad.
  5. Taking one layer at a time, fold the flower center and flower parts up and onto itself. Flatten and fluff to your liking, and you're done!

Cotton Paper Assortment

Isn't that flower fun?!  I hope you like this card.  Making one of your own would be fun and fast.
You will find all of the Stampin' Up! products I used to create this card below.  Place your order in my Online Store anytime, or click any of the photos below to go right to that item.
