Sand & Sea Happy Birthday

Have you ever bought a stamp set, a set of dies, or a suite of products that kind of intimidated you?  Like, you know that you are going to make beautiful things with them, but you aren't sure where to start?  Well, that's what happened to me when I received the Sand & Sea Suite Collection back in January.

As a result, I kept putting off using them until this past weekend.  I grabbed everything and had one goal in mind, to use the Friends Are Like Seashells Bundle, the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder, and the Pearlescent Specialty Paper (Mini Catalog, p. 40-42).

To create this Sand & Sea Happy Birthday Card, first, I die cut the large seashells from Very Vanilla Cardstock.  Then, I did my best to align the stamps over the large die cut seashells, but they never quite aligned in the right places, so I had to come up with another solution.

Then, it hit me!  Bam!  As shown below, I die cut the large seashells from the Pearlescent Specialty Paper, then stamped the seashell images onto Very Vanilla Cardstock and Seaside Spray Cardstock and fussy cut them.  Lastly, I adhered the stamped seashell images onto the die cut seashells, and embossed them with the Seashells 3D Embossing Folder to add texture.  It worked like a charm!

I'm sure I'm not the first person to figure this out, but it sure felt like a stroke of genius, in my humble opinion.

I then grabbed the stack of Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper and cut a 4-1/4" x 5-1/2" piece of paper from one of the B-sides with pink and blue hues.  I also cut a small piece of another B-side (approximately 1" x 4-1/4") that looks like the sandy bottom of the ocean and adhered it to the bottom of the large piece of paper.  It provided just the look I was going for.

I finished this card off by adding the large seashell die cut piece with Adhesive Foam Sheet pieces behind the seashells to the card front, stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede onto a scrap of Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper and die cut it, added on a few Opal Rounds (I seriously LOVE them!), and tied on some old linen thread from my craft stash.

I was so impressed with this Sand & Sea Happy Birthday Card when I finished it.  It is everything I wanted it to be and more, and I can't wait to share it with my sweet friend on her upcoming birthday.

The colors in this card are shown below.
