Celebration Banner...with a Spin!

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!  I'm here today to share the latest addition to my Craft Roommy CREATE Banner!

When I saw the Celebration Basics and Add-On kits in the Occasions Catalog, I knew that I wanted one for my Craft Room.  My goal was to create the banner in time for my Customer Appreciation Event in January, but time was not on my side, so I tabled it for later.

Over this past weekend, my fiancé told me that he was taking Julian out for the day, so I knew EXACTLY what to do with all of that free time—make my banner once and for all!

I was going to spell "Celebrate," but I don't have any big celebrations coming up, so I borrowed my friend Patty Bennett's idea and spelled "Create" instead.  Brilliant, right?!

Using the Celebration Basics Kit and the Bermuda Bay Celebration Add-On Kit (there's also a Calypso Coral Add-On Kit), I went to work.  I punched and die cut banners, starbursts, and the embellishments from the 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper that was included in the Add-On Kit.  But the most fun was making the streamers that are hanging from the sides of the banner.

TIP:  To get BOLD color for your streamers, you will need the Spritzer (included in the Add-On Kit), the Ink Refill of your choice (sold separately) and a bottle of 70% alcohol.
  1. Fill your Spritzer 3/4's of the way with alcohol and add 25 drops of Ink Refill (you will have plenty left so don't fret).
  2. Lay the streamers on top of Grid Paper and spritz, covering completely.  (You may need to refill your spritzer a couple of times to get them all covered.)
  3. Allow ample time to dry (approx. 1-2 hours).
  4. Using a ruler and pencil, measure every 1/2", mark and cut.
  5. Remove the adhesive strip and roll.
Here's a quick video from Stampin' Up! with more details on our Celebration Basics Kit.

My banner now hangs over my IKEA Expedit storage unit, and I love the pizzaz it brings to my Craft Room!  I had so much fun making it, and I hope that you will join me in making one for your next party or craft room too!
