I love history and trivia, so I thought I would share some of what I learned about National Scrapbook Day from the National Day Calendar website. Just in case you don't know what scrapbooking is, it is a method of preserving personal and family history in the form of a scrapbook. Did you know that scrapbooking dates back all the way to the 15th Century?!
Today, scrapbooking is a hobby where people preserve memories, but it also provides a strong social network. People who enjoy scrapbooking as a hobby, also known as "scrappers," typically include photographs, printed media, journaling and artwork on their scrapbook pages. And they enjoy getting together with friends, family and fellow scrappers to share tips and ideas as well as to socialize.

Each year, thousands of people get together all over the United States to celebrate National Scrapbook Day! The "unofficial" holiday is always the first Saturday in May and was started in 1994 by the company Creative Memories.
