What's Hot Wednesdays: Fun Gift Card Holders

It's What's Hot Wednesday time, and, boy, do I have a FUN share for you today!

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and birthdays come year-round.  If you are anything like me, you'd really like to get your friends and family members what they's like for such occasions, but you don't always know exactly what that is.

My answer--gift cards!  They're almost always the right size, and they make the perfect gift!  So, instead of putting the gift cards you buy into one of those flimsy, dinky envelopes they give you at the store when you buy one, how about a handmade card with a handy-dandy envelope on the front that holds a gift card or two?!  What a clever idea, right?!

I got my inspiration for this card from a card I saw on Splitcoaststampers.  The card is 5-1/2" square, and the envelope was made with our Envelope Punch Board for a 2" x 3-1/2" card--the smallest envelope you can make with the Punch Board.  So easy to use!

Be sure to check out the how-to video below, and my best tips on what you'll need to make them HERE.

For Valentine's Day, you can make the kids a card like this and include a gift card to their favorite ice cream or yogurt shop, or one for your honey with a gift card to his favorite sporting good or home improvement store.  The possibilities are endless.  Now, go and make one!

The Steps:
  1. Make a small envelope with Tango Tangerine Cardstock according to the directions on the Envelope Punch Board and set aside.
  2. Grab three (3) strips of Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper and one (1) strip of Very Vanilla Cardstock that are 5-1/4" in length and varying widths, and adhere them to the front of your card.
  3. Stamp your sentiment in Baked Brown Sugar on a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock and wrap around the front of the small envelope.  Adhere the flaps to the back of the envelope.
  4. Cut three (3) small banners from coordinating Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper with the smallest Banners Framelits Dies and adhere them to the piece of cardstock with the sentiment.
  5. Punch a heart with the Small Heart Punch from Red Glimmer Paper and adhere it to the piece of cardstock with the sentiment.
  6. Adhere the envelope to the front of the card and tuck in the gift card(s).
