Vampire Owl TUTORIAL

Do you remember this cute little guy from last week?  Well, as promised, I'm back today with my Vampire Owl Tutorial!

This was NOT an easy task, so I hope that you like it.  And if you haven't already sent your Halloween cards yet, there's still time to add an adorable little Vampire Owl to your Halloween cards and projects.

I am not the inventor of this Vampire Owl.  I actually saw him and a bunch of other brilliant punch art featuring our Owl Builder Punch on Pinterest.  But since I could not find a link back to the original creator, I had to figure him out and create my own.

If you know who originally created this Vampire Owl, please let me know because I would love to give that person credit for such great work!

So here goes!  This is what you'll need to make him:

  • Stampin' Up! Owl Builder Punch
  • Stampin' Up! Extra-Large Oval Punch
  • Stampin' Up! Petite Pennants Builder Punch
  • Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Tweezers
  • Wet glue that dries clear (I prefer Tombow Mono Aqua Liquid Glue, but you can use whatever you prefer)

The Steps:

1.  Punch the following:
  • 2 Basic Black owl bodies from the Owl Builder Punch
  • 2 Basic Black pennants (straight edge) from the Petite Pennants Builder Punch
  • 1 Real Red tummy and 1 Whisper White tummy from the Owl Builder Punch
  • For the eyes, two large Whisper White circles, two medium Pumpkin Pie circles, and two small Basic Black circles from the Owl Builder Punch

2.  Cut the white tummy in half and adhere the rounded end near the top of one owl body.  Then adhere the red tummy to bottom the of the owl.

3.  Take the 2nd black owl body and, using the Extra-Large Oval Punch and a small Post-it note to hold the body in place, punch to cut off the sides of the owl.

4.  Take the two cut sides and adhere to the first owl body.

5.  For his cape, cut about 1/4 off the top of the two black pennants.

6.  Turn him over, and you're ready to adhere the collar and flaps for his cape.  Adhere the collar (the tops of the pennants) with wet glue behind his ears and the flaps (the bottom of the pennants) with Stampin' Dimensionals.

7.  Using your tweezers, layer and adhere the eyes using wet glue.  Affix them to your owl.

8.  Fashion a nose by cutting a very tiny square out of a scrap of Basic Black Cardstock with some small scissors.  Adhere with wet glue.

Wahoo!  You're ready to adhere your Vampire Owl to your project!  What a FUN Halloween project that will make anyone smile!
