Cupcakes 'n Happiness & My Convention Special!

I finally did it...I'm attending my VERY 1st Stampin' Up! Convention this week!  I am so looking forward to going to Salt Lake City, Utah, and joining my fellow demonstrators for 3 glorious days of all things Stampin' Up!

July 22-25, 2015

One of the most fun things about going to Convention is "swapping" cards with fellow demonstrators.  Swapping is where you make one or several card designs (card fronts, not full cards) in any amount you choose, and you swap those cards with other demonstrators to share new ideas and techniques.

I was conservative in my approach, I would say, because I made 150 cards in 4 different designs.  Some people make 50, some make 350, so I'm right in the middle.  Some people don't make any at all, and that's fine too.  Swapping not required, but it's so fun that most people participate.

For my first swap card, I made this adorable Cupcakes 'n Happiness Card.  I borrowed from my I {Heart} You Cupcake Card design.  No two cards are exactly the same, and I used a rainbow of colors for my card bases to keep them fun and fresh.

THE STEPS (to make as a card) ::
  1. Cut card base to 4-1/4" x 11" in either Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, Bermuda Bay or Watermelon Wonder Cardstock and fold in half.
  2. Cut card front to 4" x 5-1/4" in Tip Top Taupe Cardstock.
  3. Stamp sentiment from the Sprinkles of Life Stamp Set in Watermelon Wonder ink near bottom in center.
  4. Cut a strip 1" x 4-3/4" of patterned cardstock from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Stack and punch both ends using the Triple Banner Punch.
  5. Stamp a cupcake base in Tip Top Taupe ink onto Tip Top Taupe Cardstock.  Fussy cut and set aside.
  6. Stamp a cupcake topper in Tip Top Taupe ink onto a piece of patterned cardstock from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Stack and punch using the Tree Builder Punch.
  7. Adhere Tea Lace Doily to the Tip Top Taupe card base, strip with banner ends onto the center of the doily, and the cupcake base using SNAIL or Fast Fuse.  Adhere cupcake topper over the cupcake base using a Stampin' Dimensional.  Punch a scallop flower from Watermelon Wonder Cardstock and adhere to top of cupcake.
If you'd like to make some of your own Cupcakes 'n Happiness cards, I have all of the supplies listed below.
